Worked Case Examples; Question 1 - Vivian
Vivian is a 67-year old lady who lives with her wife, Ellen. Having transitioned over a decade ago, she considers herself to be a ‘woman with a trans history’. She underwent genital surgery involving orchidectomy, so for bone protection she uses low dose estradiol.
She is newly registered at your surgery and for some reason her HRT was not included in her repeat medication request.
She comes to see you to resolve this matter, but the consultation gets off to a terrible start because she was misgendered (referred to as a gender she does not identify with) when booking her appointment on the phone.
With regard to her gender identity, Vivian might describe herself as:
a lesbian
a transvestite
transgender
intersex
